Since our initial findings were published in 2016 as part of the Beckley/Imperial Psychedelic Research Programme, there has been increasing evidence that psychedelics, specifically psilocybin, can provide much-needed relief for people suffering with depression and other mental health problems. However, many individuals often struggle with low mood, anxiety and malaise without meeting the criteria for a diagnosable condition. While not as severe, this still negatively impacts their overall quality of life. Psychedelics could offer one option for helping people improve their wellbeing, allowing them to approach life with newfound vigour.
