Dr. Thilo Hinterberger

Thilo  Hinterberger is with the Institute of Environmental Health at the University Hospital in Freiburg i.Br., Germany in the field of Neuroscience and consciousness research. He worked at the Institute of Medical Psychology and Behavioral Neurobiology part of the Eberhard-Karls-University of Tuebingen. Since 1997 he has worked on programming the Thought Translation Device (TTD), a Brain-Computer Interface which enabled totally paralysed patients to communicate with their brain signals only. He is still responsible for the technical support of the TTD which was used for various research purposes:

* Training of self-control of slow cortical potentials and EEG frequencies (e.g. treatment of ADHD)

* Brain-Computer Communication by the use of brain potentials and intracortical Signals (EcoG)

* Coma detection (see the work of Dr. Kotchoubey)

* Feedback of epileptic spikes

* Feedback of EEG-components in the functional MRI.

* Monitoring and classification of states of consciousness during meditative practice

* Sonification of brain signals
